Abigail Allen of Martinsville, Indiana, honored in Who's Who Among Students for 2016

Abigail Allen of Martinsville, Indiana (46151) has received national recognition as an outstanding campus leader for 2016 by the Who's Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges program. She is the daughter of Stacy Allen and Jeanine Allen.

Allen is one of a select group of 44 Olivet Nazarene University seniors who have been recognized for 2016. She is also part of a select group from more than 1,000 schools in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Majoring in nursing, Allen received this honor for her achievements while at Olivet, including: Dean's List; University Honors Program and Honors research; third place winner, Reed Leadership Essay Contest; Kendrick Foundation Scholarship (2014 and 2015); president, Nursing Student Association (NSA) Council; Kappa Sigma Chapter, Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society; Heart 4 Missions; children's small group leader, Gathering Point Church of the Nazarene, Bourbonnais, Illinois; served on medical mission trip to Kudjip Nazarene Hospital, Papua New Guinea (2015) .

Olivet's campus nominating committee - made up of representatives from the faculty, administration and student body - selected and nominated students to be considered for this prestigious recognition. Selection criteria included grade point average, participation and leadership in school activities, community involvement, and leadership ability.

"These selected individuals exemplify the highest Christian ideals, strong academic achievement and a commitment to service," said Woody Webb, vice president for student development. "In and out of the classroom, they embody hope for the future - for themselves and everyone they will encounter in their lives."

For 80 years, Who's Who Among Students has annually honored outstanding student leaders from institutions of higher learning across the country. It is one of the most highly regarded and long-standing honors programs, respected by college faculties and administrations.
