Olivet Nazarene University's Department of Athletics inducted alumna Lauren (Chessum) McLain of Orlando, Florida, into the Athletics Hall of Fame during the 2014 Homecoming and Family Weekend festivities, Friday, October 31, 2014. She was honored for her achievements as a Tiger softball player.

During her four-year softball career at Olivet, McLain dominated in the circle from 2005 to 2008. When the dust settled, she held 10 individual records, seven of which were new program records, including: games started (144), appearances (159), complete games (112), innings pitched (918.4) and strikeouts (967). She was the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Freshman of the Year in 2005, and the CCAC Pitcher of the Year for 2006, 2007 and 2008. She was named National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) National Player of the Year all four years and was a three-time National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) All-American.

She is married to Marc McLain, an Olivet football alumnus and former assistant coach, and currently resides in Orlando, Florida. She is a teacher at The Master's Academy and is the head of the student government association.

This year's honorees also include: Hilary (Disch) Lochner, women's basketball; Michelle (McFadden) Schneider, volleyball; Ben Zobrist, baseball; and Coach Ralph Hodge, men's basketball. An additional honor for Zobrist is the retiring of his Tiger number 12 and baseball jersey.

"Recognizing these outstanding representatives of Tiger athletics is one of the highlights of every year at Olivet," said Gary Newsome, director of athletics. "Lauren, Hilary, Michelle, Ben and Coach Hodge continue to uphold our standards of excellence in their careers and post-college activities."
