Anderson Resident Ashlan Allison Honored in Who's Who Among Students for 2013

Ashlan Allison of Anderson has received national recognition as an outstanding campus leader for 2013 by the Who's Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges® program. She is the daughter of Brian and Catherine Allison.

Allison is one of a select group of 53 seniors from Olivet Nazarene University to accept this prestigious award. More than 2,842 schools in all 50 states and the District of Columbia participated in nominating their students for this honor.

A social work and business administration major, Allison received this honor for her achievements while at Olivet, including: member of Phi Alpha and Sigma Beta Delta honor societies; treasurer of Diakonia social work club; VP of sustainability and project leader for Enactus (formerly known as SIFE); member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes; volunteer with Urban Promise Honduras, Hopewell Center, Sojourn at Riverside Medical Center, Provena Day Care Center, Kennedy Middle School, Steuben Elementary School, East Side Church of God; athlete on varsity women's tennis team, serving as co-captain for two years and winning more than 100 career matches; NCCAA All-American Award and Scholar Team Award (2010); NCCAA National Athlete of the Week (May 2011); CCAC All-Singles Team, CCAC All-Academic Team, NAIA Scholar-Athlete (2012).

Olivet Nazarene University's campus nominating committee - made up of representatives from the faculty, administration and student body - selected and nominated [him/her] for this award. Criteria for this selection included grade point average, participation and leadership in school activities, community involvement and leadership ability.

For more than 76 years, Who's Who Among Students has annually honored outstanding student leaders from institutions of higher learning across the country. It is one of the most highly regarded and long-standing honors programs, respected by college faculties and administrations.
