Beardstown Resident Clarissa Cox Honored in Who's Who Among Students for 2013

Clarissa Cox of Beardstown has received national recognition as an outstanding campus leader for 2013 by the Who's Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges® program. She is the daughter of Kenny and Becky Cox.

Cox is one of a select group of 53 seniors from Olivet Nazarene University to accept this prestigious award. More than 2,842 schools in all 50 states and the District of Columbia participated in nominating their students for this honor.

A nursing major, Cox received this honor for her achievements while at Olivet, including: member of Sigma Theta Tau International nursing honor society; dean's list (fall semester 2009, spring semester 2010, spring semester 2011); Nursing Student Association representative (2011-2012); nursing student mentor (2012); volunteer and donor with American Red Cross Blood Drive (2008 to 2012); volunteer on Missions in Action trip to Argentina (2011); sophomore class representative to Associated Student Council (2010-2011); Freshman Connections mentor (2010); Olivet Tigers cheerleader (2009-2010).

Olivet Nazarene University's campus nominating committee - made up of representatives from the faculty, administration and student body - selected and nominated [him/her] for this award. Criteria for this selection included grade point average, participation and leadership in school activities, community involvement and leadership ability.

For more than 76 years, Who's Who Among Students has annually honored outstanding student leaders from institutions of higher learning across the country. It is one of the most highly regarded and long-standing honors programs, respected by college faculties and administrations.
