Chelsea Risinger of Tremont, Illinois, honored in Who's Who Among Students for 2016

Chelsea Risinger of Tremont, Illinois (61568) has received national recognition as an outstanding campus leader for 2016 by the Who's Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges program. She is the daughter of Stan and Julie Risinger.

Risinger is one of a select group of 44 Olivet Nazarene University seniors who have been recognized for 2016. She is also part of a select group from more than 1,000 schools in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Majoring in nursing, Risinger received this honor for her achievements while at Olivet, including: First place, 2013 Reed Leadership Student Essay Contest, sponsored by The David L. Elwood Center for Student Success; 2015 recipient, Lincoln Academy of Illinois Abraham Lincoln Civic Engagement Award and Student Laureate; student body president (junior and senior years), sophomore class president, freshman class representative, Associated Student Council; Kappa Sigma Chapter, Sigma Theta Tau, international nursing honor society; Level 5 representative, Nursing Student Association; mission trips to Slovakia through Josiah Venture: taught English at a summer camp (2012), summer intern (2012-2013) and trip leader for English summer camps (2014, 2015).

Olivet's campus nominating committee - made up of representatives from the faculty, administration and student body - selected and nominated students to be considered for this prestigious recognition. Selection criteria included grade point average, participation and leadership in school activities, community involvement, and leadership ability.

"These selected individuals exemplify the highest Christian ideals, strong academic achievement and a commitment to service," said Woody Webb, vice president for student development. "In and out of the classroom, they embody hope for the future - for themselves and everyone they will encounter in their lives."

For 80 years, Who's Who Among Students has annually honored outstanding student leaders from institutions of higher learning across the country. It is one of the most highly regarded and long-standing honors programs, respected by college faculties and administrations.
