Emily Mills of Milan, Illinois, honored in Who's Who Among Students for 2017

Emily Mills of Milan, Illinois (61264) has received national recognition as an outstanding campus leader for 201 by the Who's Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges? program. She is the daughter of Marty and Sheila Mills.

Mills is one of a select group of 45 Olivet Nazarene University seniors who have been recognized for 2017. She is also part of a select group from more than 1,000 schools in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Majoring in interior design, Mills received this honor for her achievements while at Olivet, including: 2016 ONU Homecoming Queen; dean's list, all semesters; served on Missions In Action mission trips to Thailand (2015) and St. Joseph, Michigan (2017); serving on mission trip to Thailand (2017); member, SUFACS (Student Unit of Family and Consumer Sciences) (2013-2017); SUFACS secretary and president; member, Kappa Delta Rho (ONU's chapter of Kappa Omicron Nu national honor society for human sciences; 2016 Chicago Marathon for Team World Vision with Team Olivet; second grade girls small group leader, GatheringPoint Church, Bourbonnais, Illinois; intramural volleyball; choreographed Ollies Follies variety show; volunteer, Habitat for Humanity (2015).

Olivet's campus nominating committee - made up of representatives from the faculty, administration and student body - selected and nominated students to be considered for this prestigious recognition. Selection criteria included grade point average, participation and leadership in school activities, community involvement, and leadership ability.

"These selected individuals exemplify the highest Christian ideals, strong academic achievement and a commitment to service," said Woody Webb, vice president for student development. "In and out of the classroom, they embody hope for the future - for themselves and everyone they will encounter in their lives."

For more than 80 years, Who's Who Among Students has annually honored outstanding student leaders from institutions of higher learning across the country. It is one of the most highly regarded and long-standing honors programs, respected by college faculties and administrations.
