Fenton Resident Michael Doherty Honored in Who's Who Among Students for 2013

Michael Doherty of Fenton has received national recognition as an outstanding campus leader for 2013 by the Who's Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges® program. He is the son of Mike and Amy Doherty.

Doherty is one of a select group of 53 seniors from Olivet Nazarene University to accept this prestigious award. More than 2,842 schools in all 50 states and the District of Columbia participated in nominating their students for this honor.

A chemistry with biochemistry concentration major, Doherty received this honor for his achievements while at Olivet, including: Olivet's Mr. ONU (2011); recipient of Strickler Science Scholarship, Crawford Leadership Scholarship, Calvin and Connie Johnson Chemistry Award and Scholarship; finalist for Servant Leadership Award (2012); 2012 Homecoming Court; dean's list (six times); resident assistant (three years); member of Associated Student Council, Social Committee, Center for Student Success Advisory Committee, Dow Chemical/BASF Community Advisory Panel; president of Chemistry Club; treasurer and college buddy with Best Buddies.

Olivet Nazarene University's campus nominating committee - made up of representatives from the faculty, administration and student body - selected and nominated [him/her] for this award. Criteria for this selection included grade point average, participation and leadership in school activities, community involvement and leadership ability.

For more than 76 years, Who's Who Among Students has annually honored outstanding student leaders from institutions of higher learning across the country. It is one of the most highly regarded and long-standing honors programs, respected by college faculties and administrations.
