Ian Lopshire of Olivet takes top student employee honors in Illinois

2015 Apr 23

Midwest Association of Student Employment Administrators (MASEA) has recognized Ian Lopshire of Olivet Nazarene University as the Illinois Student Employee of the Year. A junior majoring in computer science, he is from Auburn, Indiana. This is the second consecutive year an Olivet student has received this honor.

The Illinois award recognition followed Olivet's selection of Ian as its Student Employee of the Year.

Ian has worked in the library services department of Olivet's Benner Library and Resource Center since 2013. His responsibilities include serving the needs of the School of Graduate and Continuing Studies (SGCS). He is also instrumental in the design and maintenance of the library's website.

In nominating him, Ann Johnston, informatics librarian, and Pam Greenlee, SGCS librarian, said: "Ian implements critical skills to meet office needs. He teaches skills to new programmers. He coded almost our entire new website, and he is co-authoring an article with a library team about the website redesign process."

Nominations for Olivet's awards came from students, staff and faculty members to recognize nominees for reliability, quality of work, initiative, professionalism and uniqueness of contribution to their department or office. Olivet's awards ceremony on April 17 also celebrated the value and contribution of Olivet students who worked in the 1,258 student jobs on campus during the 2014-2015 academic year.
