Jacob Gouge of Greenville, Illinois, honored in Who's Who Among Students for 2016

Jacob Gouge of Greenville, Illinois (62246) has received national recognition as an outstanding campus leader for 2016 by the Who's Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges program. He is the son of Michael and Janice Gouge.

Gouge is one of a select group of 44 Olivet Nazarene University seniors who have been recognized for 2016. He is also part of a select group from more than 1,000 schools in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Majoring in youth ministry, Gouge received this honor for his achievements while at Olivet, including: Dean's List (seven semesters); 2015 David L. Elwood Servant Leadership Award; Jim Johnson Scholarship; Rev. C.H. and E. Roberts Scholarship; 2015 Homecoming Court; resident assistant (2013-2014); volunteer, youth ministry, Chicago Heights Church of the Nazarene (2012-2016); intern, youth ministry, Greenville First Christian Church (2013); intern, Shepherd Community Center, Indianapolis, Indiana (2014); intern, youth ministry, Chicago City Life Center, Englewood, Illinois (2015); served on mission trips to Shepherd Community Center, Chicago City Life Center and Democratic Republic of the Congo, Africa (2015); co-leader, mission trip to Chicago City Life Center (2016); participant in a Tuesday night prayer gathering (2015-2016).

Olivet's campus nominating committee - made up of representatives from the faculty, administration and student body - selected and nominated students to be considered for this prestigious recognition. Selection criteria included grade point average, participation and leadership in school activities, community involvement, and leadership ability.

"These selected individuals exemplify the highest Christian ideals, strong academic achievement and a commitment to service," said Woody Webb, vice president for student development. "In and out of the classroom, they embody hope for the future - for themselves and everyone they will encounter in their lives."

For 80 years, Who's Who Among Students has annually honored outstanding student leaders from institutions of higher learning across the country. It is one of the most highly regarded and long-standing honors programs, respected by college faculties and administrations.
