Lakeland Resident Cassidy Lancaster Honored in Who's Who Among Students for 2013

Cassidy Lancaster of Lakeland has received national recognition as an outstanding campus leader for 2013 by the Who's Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges® program. She is the daughter of Tom Lancaster and Jody Evans.

Lancaster is one of a select group of 53 seniors from Olivet Nazarene University to accept this prestigious award. More than 2,842 schools in all 50 states and the District of Columbia participated in nominating their students for this honor.

A elementary education major, Lancaster received this honor for her achievements while at Olivet, including: dean's list; 2012 Homecoming Court; teaching assistant for course in physical science for elementary teachers (three years); co-leader of Heart 4 Missions (one year); desk manager in Olivet's Ludwig Center (two years); photographer for Aurora yearbook (three years); volunteer for child care at College Church of the Nazarene, Bourbonnais, Ill. (two years); mentor in Sister 2 Sister program (one year); member of National Science Teachers Association (two years); served on mission trips to Honduras (2011), Paraguay (2012) and Honduras (2012).

Olivet Nazarene University's campus nominating committee - made up of representatives from the faculty, administration and student body - selected and nominated [him/her] for this award. Criteria for this selection included grade point average, participation and leadership in school activities, community involvement and leadership ability.

For more than 76 years, Who's Who Among Students has annually honored outstanding student leaders from institutions of higher learning across the country. It is one of the most highly regarded and long-standing honors programs, respected by college faculties and administrations.
