Mercy Bray of Wilmington, Ohio, honored in Who's Who Among Students for 2017

Mercy Bray of Wilmington, Ohio (45177) has received national recognition as an outstanding campus leader for 201 by the Who's Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges? program. She is the daughter of Michael and Jayne Bray.

Bray is one of a select group of 45 Olivet Nazarene University seniors who have been recognized for 2017. She is also part of a select group from more than 1,000 schools in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Majoring in art with a concentration in painting, Bray received this honor for her achievements while at Olivet, including: Dean's list; intramural soccer (indoor and outdoor), volleyball, racquetball, kickball and baseball; Ollies Follies games and variety show; secretary, Best Buddies Club; volunteer, Disciplers weekly youth program; resident assistant; student worker, Friends of Olivet (Phonathon); volunteer, Homecoming events, Ladies Day, concerts; lifeguard and swim instructor, Perry Student Life and Recreation Center; volunteer, Adopt a Player Fundraiser (women's basketball team); nursery volunteer, Second Place Church, Monee, Illinois; Alpha ministry; Run for Their Lives 5K; served on mission trip to Dominican Republic (2016).

Olivet's campus nominating committee - made up of representatives from the faculty, administration and student body - selected and nominated students to be considered for this prestigious recognition. Selection criteria included grade point average, participation and leadership in school activities, community involvement, and leadership ability.

"These selected individuals exemplify the highest Christian ideals, strong academic achievement and a commitment to service," said Woody Webb, vice president for student development. "In and out of the classroom, they embody hope for the future - for themselves and everyone they will encounter in their lives."

For more than 80 years, Who's Who Among Students has annually honored outstanding student leaders from institutions of higher learning across the country. It is one of the most highly regarded and long-standing honors programs, respected by college faculties and administrations.
