Nick Allen of Kankakee stars in Olivet's production of "The Boys Next Door"

Nick Allen, a resident of Kankakee, stars as Lucien P. Smith in Olivet Nazarene University's upcoming production of "The Boys Next Door." He is a senior majoring in multimedia studies at Olivet.

Directed by Jerry Cohagan, professor of theatre at Olivet, this hilarious and heartfelt production takes the stage at Kresge Auditorium in the Larsen Fine Arts Center on Olivet's campus in Bourbonnais, Illinois. It is a play that will leave audience members thinking about humanity as they exit after the final bows. Show times are: Friday, Oct. 31, 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 1, 2 p.m.; Friday. Nov. 7, 7 p.m.; and Saturday, Nov. 8, 7 p.m.

"The Boys Next Door," written by Tom Griffin, premiered in 1987, off Broadway in New York City at the Lamb's Theatre, which was owned and operated under the auspices of the Lamb's Church of the Nazarene. A wonderful combination of laughter and heart, this play follows the lives of four mentally disabled men living in Boston. Through humor and pathos, the audience learns about the memorable moments and monumental changes in their lives.
